Thanks

Posted in Simple, Thank you at 7:44 pm by happygiggles

I needed a Thank you card so this is what I came up with!

I love the pretty simplicity!  The base is made using Bashful blue with some whisper White and designer paper out of my Costco slab for the next layers.  Over top of these layers I used some lime green Bazzill Bling and a bit of Chocolate brown satin ribbon.  I love all the texture on this card!  I stamped the images and the sentiment using Chocolate brown ink.  The final touches were the rounded bottom corners and the little crystals on the flower from Live your Dream!

Thanks for looking!

Well, other than I haven’t been feeling very creative.  Just feeling tired!  I do have a card to show you though!  Actually two, but I’ll make another post for the other one.

I realize it looks pretty similar to the card in the post below, but I kinda liked that card so I thought I would make another one!  This one was for my husband’s Grandma’s 80th this past weekend.  She loved it!  My initial plan for this card was to use the Splitcoast colour challenge using Chocolate chip, sage, and very vanilla.  But that got changed because I really wanted to use the Live Your Dreams stamp set and I only have River Rock ink for a green.  So, I used River Rock paper!  I also wanted to use my Cuttlebug because I know people love the effect of the embossing.

Hope you enjoyed it!

Dreamy Birthday

Posted in It's your Birthday at 9:01 pm by happygiggles

I’m still around!  Although I haven’t been making many cards!  I’m blaming it on the fact that I’m now getting up early for work. (4 am!)  In this situation, my husband gets all my extra energy!  He needs dinner you know.

But, since it is my Grandma’s birthday tomorrow, I made her a card using the Live your Dream set that I just got!

She loved it!  I gave it to her today since we went for brunch for Mother’s Day and I won’t see her tomorrow.  For this card I started with a blush blossom base then added some River Rock and some patterned paper out of my Costco slab.  I used river rock and groovy guava ink for the stamped flower image.  I think I’m going to put Blush blossom ink on my wish list.  I really like that colour!  The butterfly is stamped in chocolate chip on the same patterned paper with Close to Cocoa underneath.  Before I attached the stamped images, I added some white satin ribbon to the scalloped River Rock piece.  the final touch was the two rhinestones!

Recipe:
Stamps: Live your Dream, birthday sentiment from Stamping Bella
Paper: Blush blossom, river rock, whisper white, close to cocoa, patterned paper from Costco slab
Ink: Chocolate chip, River Rock, Groovy guava
Accessories: white ribbon, rhinestones, scalloped scissors, circle punches

Back to normal?

Posted in Simple at 2:51 pm by happygiggles

Whew!  What a week I had last week!  My mother in law was staying with us for a few days before she made a big move a few provinces over to live closer to my sister in law.  Needless to say my normal routine was a bit off!  But things are looking like they’ll be back to normal this week!  Over the weekend I managed to go out and buy a few plants to put into my containers.  I didn’t buy much because there is still the possibility of frost.  This year I really wanted to buy some herbs so that I can just pull some off when I need it!  Can’t wait!

Onto a card!  I haven’t been making much lately but I do have a Mother’s Day card to show you!

Very soft looking.  I used river rock for the card base and stamped the little flowers from Boho backgrounds on the top.  Next I layered some blush blossom with some Chocolate chip and Very Vanilla.  I tied a sheer pink ribbon around those layers before I attached them.  The final layers are the scalloped circle and more Very Vanilla with the sentiment stamped in chocolate chip.  I added a bit of Stickles to all the scalloped pieces!  Because I love sparkle so much!

Recipe:

Stamps: Boho Backgrounds, Blooming with Love
Paper: River rock, Very vanilla. chocolate chip, blush blossom
Ink: Versamark, chocolate chip
Accessories: pink sheer ribbon, scallop punch, circle punch, scalloped scissors, Stickles

Sparkly Butterfly

Posted in Challenges, It's your Birthday at 11:01 am by happygiggles

I quite like this card!  The colours make me happy!  The colour scheme actually came from kwernerdesign blog.  You should really check her blog out.  Each week she posts a new colour challenge for anyone to try out!   But this card is really for the Featured Stamper challenge featuring Michelle – aka Sf9erfan on Splitcoast.  I decided to case this card:  Silly Butterfly.

I obviously changed the colours and I didn’t add the white dots.  I also just bought one of Martha Stewart’s butterfly punches (love it!) so I thought this was the perfect excuse to use it!

The card base is Sahara Sand with some whisper white and Pumpkin pie layered over top.  The swirls are stamped in Certainly Celery on some Whisper white which is over top of some So Saffron, Certainly Celery, and Pumpkin Pie.  The butterflies are punched out of the same colours then I added the rhinestones to the body and then Stickled the wings!  I love the sparkle!

Recipe:

Stamps: Season of Joy, not sure where the birthday sentiment is from
Paper: Sahara sand, Whisper white, Pumpkin Pie, So saffron, certainly celery
Ink: Certainly celery
Accessories: rhinestones, white satin ribbon, Stickles, butterfly punch

Once in a while I’ll put my name in for some blog candy that’s being offered on one of the numerous blogs that I stalk. I just so happens that this time I won! If you haven’t already, check out Amy’s blog, Pickled Paper Designs.  Her work is absolutely amazing.  You will not be disapointed!  I happened to win the April 2008 Cards Magazine which Amy has a card in!  I can’t wait to get it!  Thanks so much again Amy.

Another Baby Girl

Posted in Baby, Challenges, Simple at 9:11 am by happygiggles

Today’s challenge at Splitcoast was the inspiration challenge.  One of my favorites!  We were to take inspiration from this website featuring parties in a box.  Just add Cake.  We were encouraged to use the safari theme, but were allowed to use a different party box if we wanted.  Since I don’t have anything that I thought would be suitable for a safari theme, I went with the baby shower box.  I really liked the napkins and invites which are neopolitan icecream coloured.  This is what I came up with!

I thought the card called for simple since I wanted the colours to be the main focus.  I almost didn’t add the ribbon and the bling, but I’m glad I did in the end!  Since this card is pretty simple I think it explains itself.

Sweet Baby Girl

Posted in Baby at 8:12 pm by happygiggles

I’m not sure if you remember me talking about a card that I didn’t want to show you or not, but I will show it to you now, because I redid it!  I like it much better.  Actually I sold it too!  (Well, my wonderful Mom did when she took a bunch of my cards to her office!)

Pretty cute huh?  To redo it, I took the center pieces off the ivory base I had it on before and put it on the pink base.  All because a sentiment I stamped was crooked!  Such a perfectionist I am!  So I believe this is definitely a card for a new baby girl.  There’s a lot of pink!  I started with a Pretty in Pink base, then added some very Vanilla, some polka dotted paper, more Pretty in pink, then some more Very vanilla with  a scalloped edge.  I added a bit of Stickles to the Sweet One layer.  The final touches were the bronze brads and the dew drops.

Thanks for looking!

A Day to Remember

Posted in Just Because, Weekend Sketch at 6:24 pm by happygiggles

This is what I woke up to today.  About three inches of snow!  The reason why I took this picture is because I honestly don’t remember it ever snowing in April!  Just doesn’t happen here!  Thankfully it’s pretty much gone now!

While this crazy weather system was going through, I managed to make a card.  Actually, a couple, but I’m not so sure I want to show you the other one!  I really don’t like it!  I think I’ll end up taking it apart.  Anyways, I’ll show you the one I do like.  It’s for Beate’s Weekend sketch.

The colours in this one make me happy.  Along with the flowers!  I’m thinking that I should really stick with simple because those end up being some of my favorite cards!  For this card I started with a base of Very Vanilla then added the Barely Banana layers (which my husband helped with! 🙂 )  Next came the patterned flower pieces.  Finally, I stamped the flowers from Simply Said in Versamark then embossed them in silver powder.  I really like the silver, that’s why I added the silver brads to try and tie it all in!  The simply said flowers are stamped on Soft sky layered over top Blue Bayou!  The ribbon is also there to hide a bit of a gap I had.

Recipe:

Stamps: Simply Said
Paper: Very Vanilla, Barely Banana, Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, patterned paper from Michael’s
Ink: Versamark
Accessories: silver brads, soft sky ribbon, silver embossing powder, cuttlebug

Flowers for Your Birthday

Posted in Challenges, It's your Birthday at 9:09 pm by happygiggles

Hello again!  I’m back today with the card I made for the Sketch challenge at Splitcoast.  I just loved this sketch!  Gave me a chance to use some patterned paper!  Notice I didn’t use my Cuttlebug.  See…I’m not completely obsessed!

Anywho, I started this card with a layer of dark brown from Papersource then added a bit of River Rock then the patterned paper!  I got the left hand side paper from Michael’s recently.  The other flower paper is from my local scrapbook store.  The strip with the sentiment is simply, more brown with more river rock then a touch of very Vanilla.  The layers with the stamped flowers are brown, then some Blush blossom, and some more Very Vanilla.  I coloured in the flowers with my water colour pencils then blended them with my blender pen.  Oh yeah, there’s a bit of chocolate satin ribbon running through the middle.  I didn’t like the gaps that were there, so I covered them up!

Thanks for looking!
