Here You Go!

Posted in Challenges, Wedding at 8:48 pm by happygiggles

So, I finally made a card using my new Cuttlebug on Monday and am just now getting a chance to post it!  It’s been a bit hectic this week!  The scary part is, it’s only half way through the week!  Actually, I think I should be glad it’s already half way through the week!

Well, onto the card!

I’m quite happy with how it turned out!  I used a couple of challenges for this card.  The first one was the Try a new Technique challenge at Splitcoast which was to use two or more ribbons to ‘stack’.  I used a chocolate brown and an ivory ribbon left over from our wedding.  Love those colours!  The layout actually came from one of Jen Del Muro’s A Sketch for you to Try.  Love the layout!  Another thing I’m quite enjoying about this card is how the swirls in the stamped image go perfectly with the swirls in the dry embossing!  For a bit more elegance I added the crystal rhinestone brads.  I love bling!  (Apparently I love everything today!)

Thanks for looking!

Corset Dress

Today’s challenge at Splitcoast is one of my favorites.  The sketch challenge!  Here’s our layout for today:

I really like the sketch challenge because I quite often have trouble deciding what to do with all the colors and whatnot that I have chosen.  This solves my problem.  Mostly!

Along with the sketch, I took inspiration from a piece of patterned paper I had, the wedding gown stamp, and also my recent love of pink and green.  (They’re spring colors!)

Gosh, I sure wish I could figure out how to get a better picture!  At least this one is clear, it’s just dark.  I even had it in a spot with a lot of light!

I’m not too sure how I got the inspiration for the ribbon. It just came to me!  I guess I was thinking that a lot of wedding dresses have lace up backs so why not incorporate that somehow.  So I did.  I did the image pretty much the exact same way I did the one yesterday.  Just used a different color for the bow!

Recipe:

Stamps: Wedding Gown Circle by Stamping Bella
Paper: Black by Bazzill, sage green by Anna Griffen, Patterned paper from Michael’s, whisper white
Ink: Versamark
Accessories: silver embossing powder, Stickles, water color pencil, blender pen, pink ribbon, foam tape for dimension.

Pomegranate Wedding

Posted in Wedding at 7:54 pm by happygiggles

Today’s color challenge at Splitcoast was to use basic black, basic gray and purely pomegranate.  In my opinion, another beautiful color combination!  These colors just told me to use one of my new stamps from Stamping Bella, the Wedding Gown Circle.

I’m pretty pleased with how this card turned out.  Simple, but apparently that’s my style!  Half of the flourishes I embossed with black powder, the other half I left the Versamark as is.  The stamp is embossed in silver powder to add a bit of shininess.  Hard to tell in the above photo, but I used Stickles in the image background to add sparkle.  Here’s a close up (that apparently isn’t much better!):

I used my blender pen and my purely pomegranate ink to color in the bow.  Both the image and little black piece of paper are lifted up with foam tape to add demension.  I added the corner pieces and the eyelets as an after thought.  There just wasn’t enough stuff!

Recipe:

Stamps: Season of Joy (flourish) and Wedding Gown Circle by Stamping Bella
Paper: Purely pomegranate, basic black, basic gray, whisper white
Ink: Versamark, purely pomegranate (for the bow)
Accessories: Black eyelets, black and silver embossing powders, Stickles, blender pen
